Pauline Sproull Obituary

Pauline E. (Tomko) Sproull, 85, of Lower Burrell, formerly of Leechburg, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026, at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville.

A daughter of the late John Tomko and Anna (Shaley) Tomko, she was born October 24, 1940, in Leechburg, PA.

After graduating from Leechburg High School in 1958, Pauline began her career as a secretary in the Leechburg School District business office.  She held several other positions throughout her life, retiring as caregiver with Wesley Family Services in 2019.  She was a member of Christ the King Parish in Gilpin Township and the former Assumption Church where she served on the Rosary Society, Parish Council, and various committees.

She was an avid reader of romance books and would finish a book a day.  She loved to play cards with friends and neighbors and carried her container of nickels to every card game.  She was a loyal Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirate fan, in good times and bad.  Her greatest joy was the time spent with her family, especially her great-grandson.

Pauline is survived by her daughter, Margaret “Margie” Shoemaker (Douglas) of Allegheny Township; her son, Richard J. Sproull (Yenan) of Fishers, Indiana; three grandchildren, Nicholas A. DelVecchio (Stephanie), Natalie A. DelVecchio-Wolfe (Robert), Richard J. Sproull Jr.; a great-grandson, Brecken D. DelVecchio; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Richard H. “Dick” Sproull Jr. in 2012; and three brothers, George Tomko, John Tomko, and Peter Shaley.

Friends will be welcomed by her family on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Road, Leechburg (Gilpin Township), with the Rev. Alan N. Polczynski as celebrant.  Private interment will be held at St. Catherine Cemetery in Gilpin Township.  Donations in memory of Pauline, may be made to the Leechburg Food Bank P.A.T.H., PO Box 127, Leechburg, PA 15656.
